Supporting Breast Cancer UK at Burghfield Box Kart
We were delighted to be the proud sponsor of the Flaming Flamingo, an all-female kart team who brought flair, fun, and a powerful message to the Burghfield Box Kart Bash on Sunday 22 June, raising over £1,500 for Breast Cancer UK.
The brainchild of an all-women team, led by Helen Townsend, Alison Smith, Katie Morgan and designed and engineered by Michelle Kelsey, the vibrant flamingo-themed kart was steered by the mysterious Pink Stig – whose identity remains a closely guarded secret. In preparation for race day, the Pink Stig even popped into the clinic for a full “pinkification”.
On race day, while kart team members – dressed as flamingos, focused on getting their pink creation safely (and stylishly) down the track, the Aspire team were out in full force shaking their collection buckets and cheering them on. Their combined efforts helped raise significant funds and awareness for breast cancer prevention and support.
The Flaming Flamingo made it through two runs with confidence and colour – but on the third and final run, the kart crashed in spectacular style, taking on the terrifying jump and landing in a plume of pink feathers and laughter. Thankfully, the Pink Stig emerged unscathed, still smiling beneath the helmet, and the crowd loved every second of the flamingo’s grand finale.
“It was a joy to sponsor and support such a creative and meaningful entry,” said Jenny O’Neill, Director and Founder of Aspire Clinic. “The Flaming Flamingo team did us proud, and our own team loved being part of the energy – shaking buckets, raising money, and bringing awareness to a cause we truly care about.”
