Diary of an Aesthetic Virgin – Freezing the Fat Away, the Consultation
Having had a gentle introduction to the world of aesthetics with a little non-permanent, anti-ageing, wrinkle-smoothing injectables, it was time to up the ante a bit.
As we’ve already established (check out the first of the diary instalments), my Greek heritage didn’t bless me with the long, lithe limbs and dark sultry looks of a glamorous Goddess. I’m more of the apron-wearing, donkey-riding, large-bottomed ilk.
Okay, so I exaggerate – I am Greek after all – there isn’t much call to ride a donkey whilst wearing an apron in Berkshire, however, at just 5 feet tall, and despite having a little waist, my post-baby (11 years on) tummy and my good childbearing hips make me look and feel rather dumpy and a bit lumpy in places.
Now, I like my food, and like most busy, working mums, I love a glass of prosecco. I don’t deny myself treats, and I don’t diet, but to stop myself turning into Homer Simpson’s half sister, I exercise. I run, row, ride, and I’m partial to a bit of hip hop abs as the summer approaches, but no amount of exercise ever seems to shift that little over hang when I do my jeans up, and as for my hips, the extra bit of flesh has a stubbornness that rivals no other.
However, a conversation with Aspire’s CoolSculpting expert, Sarah Archer convinced me that there was a solution to my problem in the form of a non-surgical fat removal treatment. But what was this miracle she spoke of and could it really be the answer I was looking for?
In the safety and warmth of Sarah’s treatment room, I had my first introduction to CoolSculpting; the World’s number one FDA-approved (that’s the US Government’s Food and Drug Administration) way to eliminate stubborn fat that requires no surgery or downtime.
I was given the red-carpet treatment during my consultation at Aspire Clinic, and the warm welcome, care and attention made me feel like I was in safe, expert hands.
Sarah explained that the CoolSculpting procedure works by delivering controlled cooling to gently and effectively target the fat cells underneath the skin while leaving the skin itself unaffected. The treated fat cells are frozen with the CoolSculpting machine, and then are permanently destroyed. Over the next few weeks, the body naturally processes the fat and eliminates the treated fat cells, leaving you with a slimmer shapely body. And the good news is there the fat is gone for good!
Because Coolsculpting permanently removes stubborn fat, it is ideal if you want to target your tummy, love handles, waist, inner and outer thighs, bingo wings, back fat, and even small areas like chin, knees and the area around your bra.
During the consultation, Sarah examined my stomach and thigh area and confidently said that CoolSculpting would help give me the sculpted body that I longed for.
With my summer holiday already booked, I decided that this would be a great time to get started, and so, booked in for the procedure. Taking only 35 minutes per area treated, and no downtime afterwards, there really wasn’t a lot to consider when making the booking; and with Sarah reassuring me she would be on hand to carry out the treatment, offer after-care, follow progress and answer any questions, I was ready to take a step closer to finding my inner Greek-Goddess.
Find out in the next instalment of Diary of an Aesthetic Virgin how the actual CoolSculpting treatment went and just how cold Christina got…
