The combination of platelets and growth factors found in PRP initiate and accelerate tissue repair and skin rejuvenation and therefore significantly improve the condition of your skin.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is derived from your own blood and is a concentration of platelets (the body’s own repair men!) and growth factors – in fact, up to 500% more concentrated growth factors than normal blood.
You may be interested to know that PRP therapy has been used extensively to speed up the healing process after surgery, to treat sports injuries and to alleviate chronic pain.
How does PRP therapy work for facial rejuvenation?
The process starts by taking a small sample of the patients own blood and spinning it in a centrifuge to separate out the plasma from the red blood cells. The section of your plasma that contains the growth factor and platelets is then reintroduced into the skin via a painless ‘magic-needle’ technique. Because we are using your own plasma, this is a very safe treatment, with no risk of side effects, just long-lasting improvement to your skin’s condition.
How long does it last?
For optimum results, we recommend a course of 3 treatments, a month apart and then an annual maintenance treatment.
What areas can be treated?
PRP therapy produces a rejuvenating and tightening effect on the skin, and is therefore perfect for:
- Full face rejuvenation
- Tightening a crepey neck
- Restoring sun-damaged and lined decolletage
- Rejuvenating the backs of hands
